The government has formally launched the Procurement Management Information System (PROMIS) for electronic monitoring of the procurement performance in the public sector.

Minister for Planning Air-Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandker clicked the button as the chief guest to launch the system for the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the IME Division in the city Sunday, said a press release.

Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Abul Kalam Azad was present at the launching ceremony as the special guest with Secretary of the IME Division Md Habib Ullah Majumder in the chair. 

The CPTU under the Public Procurement Reform Project-II supported by the World Bank organised the launching ceremony. Secretary of the Planning Division Monzur Hossain and member of the Planning Commission Shahab Ullah were also present on the occasion. 

The online monitoring of compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2006 and the Public procurement Rules 2008 will now cover procurement by the four large entities of the government which are considered target agencies under the PPRP-II. These are LGED, REB, BWDB and RHD.
